Operation Clear Skies turns a routine sweep into a hunt for hidden caches.

From Space: Operation Clear Skies hides its best rewards off the critical path, and you can collect every secret cache in one careful run. Search the abandoned gas station, flooded subway entrance, rooftop garden, storm-drain alcove, and satellite array before triggering the final extraction. These detours award bonus ammunition, upgrade materials, rare equipment rolls, and the operation's hidden completion reward.

The important catch is that several areas become dangerous after you advance the objective. Alien waves can seal off shortcuts, while the final sequence removes access to earlier sections. If you're playing solo, explore first and activate mission consoles second. In co-op, have one player hold the route while another checks the side rooms. That simple habit prevents most missed rewards.

How Operation Clear Skies hides its rewards

The first hidden cache is tucked away from the main road.

Operation Clear Skies uses environmental secrets rather than traditional collectible markers. The game rarely gives you a glowing icon or a convenient checklist. Instead, hidden rewards sit behind breakable obstacles, around dead-end structures, or in spaces that only become obvious when you stop following the objective beacon.

There are two kinds of rewards to track. Supply caches provide ammunition, healing items, grenades, and crafting materials. Secure caches roll higher-quality gear and are the locations that matter most on Hard or Nightmare difficulty. You don't need to open every ordinary container for full completion, but you do need to interact with each marked hidden cache.

Bring a weapon that can clear clustered enemies without burning all of your ammunition. The Shotgun is excellent for breaching tight side rooms, while the Assault Rifle is safer for long sightlines around the satellite equipment. A support character carrying healing supplies is also more valuable than an extra damage pick during the first half of the operation. For broader co-op advice, Steamoz's co-op shooter recommendations cover the same extraction-minded rhythm.

Secret location one: the abandoned gas station

Flooded subway tunnel containing a hidden reward in From Space
The subway entrance is easy to miss during the evacuation push.

The first cache appears shortly after you leave the opening staging area. Follow the main road until the mission points you toward the next barricade, but don't pass through the vehicle checkpoint immediately. Turn toward the abandoned gas station on the outer side of the road. Its forecourt looks empty, and that's exactly why many players run past it.

Exact route

Enter through the broken side gate, then move behind the building rather than into the shop. Shoot or melee the stack of damaged pallets beside the rear loading door. The opening reveals a narrow service lane. Follow it to the shuttered garage bay and interact with the cache on the floor beside the tool cabinet.

A small alien group usually patrols the forecourt, including fast melee attackers that can stagger you while you're interacting. Clear them first. The Shotgun's close-range burst is ideal here, but don't waste grenades on the first patrol; a second wave can appear if the checkpoint objective is already active.

This cache is normally a supply reward, so it isn't the operation's most exciting pickup. It can still decide a solo run, because the ammunition and healing items here let you reach the subway without spending your emergency resources. Once you've opened it, return to the road and continue toward the barricade.

Secret location two: the flooded subway entrance

Rooftop garden secret supply crate in Operation Clear Skies
A climbable fire escape leads to one of the operation's best caches.

At the evacuation street, the objective route leads past a bus and toward the upper road. Look for the subway sign half-covered by debris on the opposite side of the street. You aren't meant to descend into a complete underground level. The secret is a short flooded access corridor hidden behind the concrete entrance.

How to reach the cache

Walk down the first flight of steps and turn left at the standing water. The right-hand passage is blocked by a fallen sign, but the left side contains a low gap between the wall and a maintenance barrier. Break the barrier, crouch through, and follow the corridor until you reach a dead-end pump room.

The secure cache sits behind the pump housing. Check the room's back-left corner; the container blends into the dark metal surroundings and is easy to mistake for scenery. If you hear a pulsing electronic tone, you're close. That sound is more reliable than the objective marker, which continues pointing toward the street.

The subway is the first location where the game can punish a rushed search. Small enemies spawn in the water and slow your movement while larger attackers approach from the stairs. Pull the group back to street level before opening the cache. If you're in a team, one player should watch the stairwell while the other interacts.

Secret location three: the rooftop garden

Satellite array objective area with hidden reward in From Space
Search behind the relay equipment before activating the array.

The rooftop garden is the most commonly missed secret in Operation Clear Skies because it sits above the mission route. After leaving the subway street, enter the apartment block with the damaged green awning. Don't follow the stairs toward the ground-floor exit. Instead, search the narrow alley immediately to the right of the entrance.

There you'll find a red fire escape leading upward. Climb it, cross the first balcony, and use the second ladder to reach the roof. The cache is behind the greenhouse panels at the far end of the rooftop garden. You can break the panels from outside, so there is no need to search for a key or activate a hidden switch.

The reward is usually an equipment upgrade material plus a gear drop. The exact item quality can change with difficulty and character level, but this is still one of the strongest detours in the mission. Open it before triggering the apartment-block objective, because the rooftop becomes much harder to reach once the surrounding streets fill with aliens.

Use the roof's raised planters as cover. Ranged enemies can see you from the street, but the greenhouse wall gives you a safe angle for controlled bursts. Don't stand in the open while looting. The interaction animation leaves you vulnerable, and a fast attacker can reach the ladder before the cache finishes opening.

Secret location four: the storm-drain alcove

Rare weapon and upgrade rewards from Operation Clear Skies secret locations
The hidden rewards are most valuable when claimed before the final assault.

After the apartment section, the operation sends you through a broad service road toward the communications zone. Before crossing the road, inspect the concrete drainage channel on the left. The entry is partly concealed by a tipped utility sign and several movable-looking barricades.

Follow the channel downhill. At the first junction, stay right and squeeze past the broken pipe. The hidden cache is in a dry alcove behind the pipe's far end. It isn't visible from the road, and the mission marker won't lead you there. Look for a yellow emergency lamp; the container is directly beneath it.

This area has a nasty ambush trigger. The first enemy group appears when you enter the drain, while another group can spawn behind you when you reach the cache. Clear the entrance, then retreat to the wider section before interacting. In co-op, don't let all players crowd into the alcove. There isn't enough room to dodge a charging enemy.

The storm-drain reward is commonly ammunition and a grenade, making it less valuable than the rooftop cache but extremely useful immediately before the communications push. If you already have full ammunition, spend or swap supplies before opening it so the reward doesn't get wasted.

Secret location five: the satellite array

The final major secret is located inside the communications compound. The objective asks you to activate the satellite array, but activating the console begins the defensive sequence. Search the compound first. Walk past the central console and circle behind the largest dish assembly.

A narrow gap between the dish support and the storage container leads to a fenced maintenance pad. Break the fence panel on its right side, then inspect the crate beside the generator. This is the operation's final secure cache. If you activate the array before opening it, the area fills with enemies and the route becomes considerably less comfortable.

For the cleanest approach, clear the two visible patrols, open the cache, and then return to the console. Once the array activates, stay near hard cover and avoid fighting in the center of the compound. The defensive wave attacks from multiple directions, and the dish supports can trap you if you retreat without checking your path.

The satellite cache is the reward that scales best with progression. It can provide a higher-level weapon or equipment roll alongside upgrade materials. It isn't a guaranteed named weapon, so don't restart the mission expecting one specific drop. The valuable part is the extra high-quality roll before the extraction fight.

Best loadouts for the hidden-cache route

Operation Clear Skies rewards flexible weapons more than pure boss damage. Every secret is surrounded by close-quarters pressure, but the satellite compound also demands accurate fire across open ground. A balanced two-player team should bring one close-range weapon and one sustained-fire weapon rather than doubling down on shotguns.

Solo explorerAssault RifleShotgunHandles street lanes and tight caches
Front-line co-opShotgunHeavy weaponStops melee rushes at entrances
Ranged supportAssault RifleExplosive weaponControls patrols while allies loot
Resource saverAccurate automatic weaponPistolPreserves special ammunition for extraction

Use grenades on groups, not isolated enemies. The storm drain and subway are the only secret rooms where an explosive can save a run, because both spaces limit movement. At the rooftop and satellite array, cover and positioning matter more than raw burst damage. If you want more performance-focused PC advice, Steamoz's maximum-FPS settings guide explains the same kind of trade-offs between visibility and frame rate.

Final extraction and the hidden completion reward

Once the satellite array is active, the mission shifts from exploration to survival. You cannot safely backtrack through the compound once the final sequence has progressed, so confirm that the gas station, subway, rooftop, storm drain, and satellite caches are all open before using the console.

During extraction, stay near cover and rotate around the compound instead of standing on the objective marker. Let the fastest player collect dropped supplies only after the wave thins out. Your priority is survival; opening every ordinary container during this section is not worth losing the run.

Completing the hidden route awards the operation's bonus completion reward after extraction. The bonus is tied to opening the required secret caches, not to looting every random box. If the reward does not appear immediately, return to the results screen and check the mission summary rather than assuming the run failed.

Operation Clear Skies checklist

Use this order for a reliable one-run clear:

  1. Search the rear service lane at the abandoned gas station.
  2. Enter the flooded subway access before leaving the evacuation street.
  3. Climb the apartment fire escape and loot the rooftop garden.
  4. Check the storm-drain alcove before crossing the communications road.
  5. Circle behind the satellite dish and open the maintenance-pad cache.
  6. Only then activate the satellite array.
  7. Survive extraction and confirm the bonus reward on the results screen.

The golden rule is simple: explore every side route before touching a console. Operation Clear Skies is built to make the objective marker feel urgent, but the best loot is deliberately placed where that marker isn't pointing. Take five extra minutes, clear each ambush on your terms, and you'll finish with more supplies, better gear, and the full hidden-reward payout.
