Most of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2’s best hidden rewards come from five places: wandering Time Patrollers, Conton City’s time rifts, Guru’s House, secret Parallel Quest conditions, and Shenron’s seven-Dragon-Ball wish cycle. Follow the route below and you’ll uncover the five Time Eggs, unlock the alternate story content, farm Dragon Balls efficiently, and avoid wasting wishes on rewards you can earn elsewhere.
Before hunting, raise your character’s level and finish the early story chapters. Some rift missions and Parallel Quests simply won’t appear until the relevant story milestone is complete. The game’s Steam listing also reflects the current PC package, which includes a large amount of DLC content that can add separate rewards beyond the base-game route.
Start With the Dragon Ball Farm
Dragon Balls aren’t sitting in fixed overworld chests. The reliable method is to enter a Parallel Quest, defeat the AI-controlled Time Patroller opponents who can appear during the mission, and look for the notification that you obtained a Key Item. A Key Item means a Dragon Ball dropped; ordinary equipment drops don’t count. If no Time Patroller appears, restart the quest rather than finishing a dead run.
Offline farming is usually faster than waiting for online matchmaking. Pick a short quest you can clear quickly, such as early Parallel Quests 02 or 05, and bring a high-damage Super or Ultimate. Your character’s level doesn’t improve the Dragon Ball drop chance in a meaningful way; clear speed does. Once you have all seven, visit the Dragon Ball pedestal in Conton City and summon Shenron.
| Wish | Hidden Reward | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| I Want More Useable Characters | Unlocks a wish-exclusive character reward | Character collectors |
| I Want to Grow | One level of character progression | Early or mid-game leveling |
| I Want to Grow More | Three levels of character progression | Fresh characters and alts |
| I Want New Ultimate Attacks | Shenron-exclusive Ultimate Skills | Skill collectors |
| I Want New Super Attacks | Shenron-exclusive Super Skills | Build experimentation |
| I Want to Dress Up | Exclusive clothing reward | Outfit and fashion builds |
Wish names and availability can expand after updates and DLC, so check the full in-game list rather than assuming every reward is present from the start. If you’re chasing skills, don’t spend the first wish on levels: experience is easy to farm through story replay, Expert Missions, or the methods covered in our fast-leveling guide.

The five time rifts are the game’s biggest secret-location hunt. Each one represents a different faction storyline. Complete the chain inside a rift and its caretaker eventually hands over a Time Egg. Collect all five, then finish the main story to unlock the hidden Bardock and Future Gohan story chapters. These scenes are easy to miss because the game doesn’t clearly label the eggs as a single collection.
Guru’s House
Fly to Guru’s House in the Namek area and defend it from repeated attacks. Nail gives you missions in stages; after you clear the first sequence, the house’s defense chain continues. Complete the full chain, including the later defense missions, and Guru unlocks your attribute-cap increase before the Time Egg becomes available. This is the most valuable rift for long-term builds because it raises the maximum investment allowed in attributes.
Hercule’s House
Hercule’s House sends you into the Great Saiyaman and Great Saiyaman 2 storyline. Speak to the characters outside the house whenever a new mission icon appears, then complete the patrol missions in order. The final reward is a Time Egg. The fights are straightforward, but bring a stamina-breaking strike or Ki Blast setup because some enemies block frequently.
Capsule Corporation
Capsule Corporation is where Vegeta trains you. Return after story progress and speak with Vegeta until each sparring mission appears. You don’t need to use a Saiyan character; any created fighter can complete the chain. The last training reward is the Time Egg, while the wider Vegeta mentorship line can also unlock Saiyan combat skills and transformations depending on your progress.
Majin Buu’s House
Feed the children at Majin Buu’s house by bringing him food items from shops, item pickups, or your inventory. Each completed feeding cycle creates another child, and the chain eventually rewards a Time Egg. Food quality doesn’t turn this into a secret difficulty check, so use cheap supplies instead of wasting rare healing items. This rift is passive but time-consuming, making it smart to feed Buu between Parallel Quest runs.
Frieza’s Spaceship
Join Frieza’s army at the spaceship and complete the faction missions as they unlock. You’ll work through the Ginyu Force ranks before Frieza’s own missions open. The chain includes battles against Frieza’s soldiers and eventually his transformations. Finish the full faction sequence to receive the fifth Time Egg. Your chosen race changes some dialogue and role flavor, not the basic reward route.
| Rift | Core Task | Important Reward | Practical Tip |
|---|---|---|---|
| Guru’s House | Defend the house through mission stages | Attribute-cap increase and Time Egg | Return after every story milestone |
| Hercule’s House | Complete Great Saiyaman missions | Time Egg | Watch for new icons outside the house |
| Capsule Corporation | Train with Vegeta | Time Egg and Saiyan skills | Speak to Vegeta repeatedly |
| Majin Buu’s House | Feed Buu’s children | Time Egg | Use inexpensive food items |
| Frieza’s Spaceship | Complete the army’s rank missions | Time Egg | Finish Ginyu missions before Frieza’s |
Unlock Conton City’s Easy-to-Miss Rewards
Conton City’s floating platforms and side characters hide useful unlocks, but the game reveals them through blue quest markers rather than treasure icons. Check the Academy, shopping districts, and the areas around the Time Nest whenever you complete a story chapter. NPCs can also move or change dialogue after a parallel quest, so revisit them instead of assuming a silent character is finished.
Enroll at the Orange Star High School and complete advancement tests to unlock progressively stronger rewards. The advancement-test chain is the route to Potential Unleashed, one of the most useful awoken skills for a general-purpose created character. You must pass the tests, then raise your class rank by completing the required evaluations; the skill isn’t awarded simply for visiting the school.
Mentors are another hidden-reward system. Speak to instructors around the city, equip them as your mentor, and raise their friendship by using their skills in missions. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Gohan and Videl, Tien, Yamcha, and others each teach a specific skill set. Mentor progression can unlock Super and Ultimate attacks that never appear in ordinary skill shops. The official Bandai Namco game page is useful for separating base-game systems from DLC additions.
Don’t ignore the Transfer Shop clerk, multiplayer reception, and the large blue gift and medal economy. TP Medals buy high-level skills from the medal shop when its rotation changes, while gifts can unlock additional mentor interactions. Check the shop after every major update; its inventory is rotated, not permanently static.
Trigger Parallel Quest Ultimate Finishes
“Clear the quest” and “get the hidden reward” are completely different goals in Xenoverse 2. Ultimate Finishes require a specific timing or survival condition, and the notification often appears only after the final enemy falls. Bring a reliable stamina-break combo, use capsules sparingly, and don’t rush the final target if the condition requires an ally to survive.
| Quest Situation | Hidden Condition | Why It Matters | Counterplay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Frieza and Namek destruction quests | Defeat the main enemy before the timer or destruction sequence completes | Unlocks better skill and clothing rolls | Save your strongest Ultimate for the final phase |
| Ginyu Force encounters | Clear the squad quickly or defeat reinforcements in the required order | Improves access to faction-themed drops | Use area attacks to stop regrouping |
| Quests with revived allies | Keep the required ally alive until the trigger | Can reveal alternate enemy waves | Draw aggro and carry healing capsules |
| Multi-wave boss quests | Finish every wave within the stated time | Higher chance of rare skills | Use Ki Blast Supers after a stamina break |
For practical farming, use a Ki Blast Super Saiyan build with high Ki Blast Supers, several points in Ki, and a fast stamina-break string. Saiyan characters can exploit damage boosts after revival, while Earthlings and Frieza Race characters offer steadier neutral damage. Don’t blindly copy a raid build into a solo quest: survivability and stamina management matter more when the AI can interrupt your Ultimate.
Skill drops are random even after the correct Ultimate Finish. That’s why the best approach is repetition: choose a quest with a short route, skip optional enemies when the condition allows it, and restart quickly if the required trigger fails. Our weapon-ranking guide covers a different game, but its central farming lesson applies here too: prioritize repeatable clear speed over a theoretically perfect setup.
Finish the Hidden Story and Check the Rewards
Once all five Time Eggs are collected, return to the Time Nest after clearing the main story. The Elder Kai sequence opens additional story content focused on Bardock and Future Gohan. These missions are more than a cutscene reward: they fill in the altered-history thread and unlock new context for the Time Patrol’s final conflict.
Use this order for the least backtracking:
- Clear the main story through the final battle.
- Unlock Guru’s House, Capsule Corporation, Hercule’s House, Majin Buu’s House, and Frieza’s Spaceship.
- Complete every rift chain and collect all five Time Eggs.
- Run short Parallel Quests while feeding Buu and checking rotating shops.
- Farm seven Dragon Balls through Time Patrollers and select skill or character wishes.
- Complete advancement tests, mentor chains, and the hidden story at the Time Nest.
Several rewards are deliberately gated behind progression rather than hidden coordinates. If a quest marker is missing, advance the story, change areas, or complete a few missions and check again. Also remember that DLC mentors, awoken skills, and quests can add their own unlock rules; the official Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 portal lists expansion content, while the Steam community hub is handy for patch-specific drop notes.
For a final sweep, confirm the five Time Eggs in your inventory, check the Time Nest for the Bardock and Future Gohan missions, inspect the skill shop after every TP Medal rotation, and keep farming Dragon Balls only when you have a specific wish in mind. That turns Xenoverse 2’s scattered secrets into a clean progression route instead of an endless search through Conton City.
If you enjoy games where obscure side systems matter as much as the main campaign, compare that approach with Steamoz’s secret-locations guide for Disciples: Liberation and Construction Simulator’s hidden hunt. Xenoverse 2 is faster and flashier, but the payoff is the same: the rewards are strongest when you know exactly which small clue to follow.
